European Young Professionals - The European Christmas Dinner

The European Young Professionals held their second Christmas Dinner at the newly-refurbished Giorgio's at the Royal Orchid Sheraton hotel.

Sponsored by In Residence magazine, the riverside event drew its usual eclectic crowd of European and Thai professionals intent on celebrating Christmas in style.

Generous support from Bacardi, Grey Goose and Bombay Sapphire as well as enough vintage from the California Wine Company to rival the EU wine lake ensured the party lasted well into the night.

Sebastian Menthonnex, whose team won the inaugural boat race at the second time of asking after the first race resulted in a dead heat, was in ebullient mood by the time the night was over. ‘Even though we were drinking New World wine,’ he said, ‘I think it shows that the French are still the gastronomic champions of the world. We are also delighted to have left the British team for dead on the night.’ Thankfully nobody ventured to remind M Menthonnex as to what happened at Crecy, Agincourt and the Parc des Princes, but the winners, as they say, always get to write the history.
